Summer Vegetable Share

Fresh Veggies Each and Every Week

We are not offering a summer share in 2023.  We will be focused on growing crops for our September harvest Box and our fall and winter vegetable shares.

What’s in a share?

The share consists of cut salad greens, head lettuce, cooking greens (kale, chard, Napa cabbage), herbs (basil, parsley, cilantro, dill) and a little of everything else as each veggie comes into and out of season: radishes, turnips, scallions, peas, carrots, beets, cabbage, beans, broccoli, garlic, zucchini, summer squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, tomatillos, onions, potatoes, beets, and more! If you are looking for our fall favorites, sign up for our Fall & Winter Veggie share (details for the upcoming season available soon).

What if I need more of something or less of something that you are offering in that week’s share?

We will have options for trading to personalize your share to some extent. There will be a point system and you will be able to swap some items for others using your points. Limited quantity items may not be available for trading (think peas, cherry tomatoes, etc.), but hopefully we’ll have a supply of the sturdy, useful items like greens, onions, and carrots that can be swapped for that one bunch of parsley that you still have plenty of at home, or that extra pound of tomatoes that might be just one-too-many.

How many people will one share feed?

The age-old question… We usually say from about one enthusiastic adult to a family of three to four who may run out of the favorite items quite quickly. Just think — snap peas for the car ride home, cherry tomatoes that don’t make it past dinner on the first night, a hearty salad for two to three dinners, green smoothies for breakfast, a handful of creative lunches and dinners, and you’ll be ready for more of everything by the day of the next share. If you have a large family, you may want to consider signing on for two shares so that you will have enough of your favorites to last longer into the week. And remember, with our trading system you can often convert a few items from that second share into other items that you need more of.

What if I’m away or can’t come during pickup on one of the weeks?

Summer shares are weekly. Everyone is bound to be away or have something come up at some point. If you tell us ahead of time that you are going to be away, we won’t harvest for you and you can pick up a double share the next week. If you don’t tell us ahead of time and we’ve already harvested for you, you can collect your share the next week (or during one of our late-pickup moments). You also have the option of donating your share.

What if I dislike greens?

We’ll try our best to help you with that! We think that we offer a bountiful, but modest supply of greens each week. Most shareholders learn to love kale, chard, fresh salads, beautiful lettuces, and herbs. If that doesn’t really sound like something that you want help learning to love, you may be better off at a farmers’ market where you can pick out exactly what you love every time. But — many a shareholder has become a convert and joined the ranks of the chard-lovin, pesto-pulsing, kale-chip-makin, green-smoothie-sluggin, greens lovers. Please join us… but be forewarned. We love greens!
